Kitchen Screen

The Kitchen Screen feature in the POS system helps streamline the order preparation process. It provides kitchen staff with a clear, real-time view of all incoming orders, their status, and progress. Let’s go over its key functions and benefits.

Overview of the UI:

  • Order List:
    • Orders are displayed in separate boxes, each showing:
      • Table number
      • Time of order
      • Ordered items with quantities.
      • The current status of the order: Received, Preparing, or Done.
  • Status Filters:
    • At the top, there are filters to view orders by their status:
      • All: Shows every order regardless of its current state.
      • Received: Orders that have been placed but not yet started.
      • Preparing: Orders that are being cooked or assembled.
      • Done: Completed orders, ready for delivery or pickup.
    • Counters next to each status give an instant overview of the kitchen’s workload.

Kitchen Screen Benefits:

  • Efficient Workflow:
    • The system organizes all incoming orders in an easy-to-read format, ensuring the kitchen staff knows exactly what needs to be prepared.
    • Status updates are instantaneous, reducing communication gaps between the kitchen and front-of-house staff.
  • Clear Order Prioritization:
    • With visual status indicators (e.g., color-coded buttons like blue for "Start Order" and green for "Ready"), kitchen staff can easily prioritize which orders need attention.
    • Orders are automatically sorted by the time they were placed, helping the kitchen maintain a first-come, first-served order preparation process.
  • Real-Time Updates:
    • All changes in order status are reflected in real-time across the system, allowing the front-of-house to know exactly when an order is ready without needing to ask the kitchen.

The Kitchen Screen functionality is a critical tool in ensuring the restaurant’s kitchen operates smoothly, reducing wait times and improving the efficiency of order preparation.
